Welcome to tropical fish tank, setting up a new tropical fish tank, a tropical fish tank takes time but when it is setup and the tropical fish are in the tank it is well worth the effort.
Welcome to Tropical Fish Tank our site wlll give you all the information you need to set up your first fish tank. Setting up a tropical fish tank is not as easy as throwing a few fish into a tank of water and let them swim round, well not if you want them to survive longer than a day! You probably had a goldfish, like we all did, when we were small, that get pretty boring to watch after a while, put them in a small tank or bowl fill with tap water, feed now and then, change water when you feel like it and they will live for years, warning do not try this with tropical fish. There are tropical fish and there are marine tropical fish, these are not the same and do not live in the same environment, marine fish live in salt water and the water Ph has to be closely monitored and altered according, we will get to Ph levels later. Marine fish can be a lot more colourful, although there are some beautifully coloured tropical fish available, but marine fish cost a lot more to buy and are a lot more difficult to maintain.
The first thing you need to decide is which fish you will be keeping because you need to get a tank that suits the size of the fish you will be putting into it. You certainly would not want to put large fish in with small fish because they will eat them. Some fish are community fish and can be kept together with other species of tropical fish and they won't eat them or chase them round the tank. If you go to a good fish retailer tanks will have displays on them telling you if they are community fish or wether they should be kept alone. There are lot of good tropical fish books available and looking through some of these will give you some ideas of the type of fish you would like to keep. Don't get too carried away and put too many fish in the tank all at the same time as you need them to settle in.
